The Industry’s Only Fully-Compliant Transcription Solution

LegaLock has developed a Secure Transcription and Request System, known as STARS, the transcription industry’s first and only solution that addresses the President’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) policy memorandum 06-16, “Protection of Sensitive Agency Information”, otherwise known as “the remote data encryption mandate”. Currently, there is not another single commercial transcription or court reporting company within the U.S. or elsewhere with the knowledge and proper computer system authorized to process, store, and transmit sensitive but unclassified (SBU) government data.

Due to OMB 06-16 and other tightened federal IT protections smf government agencies, require commercial transcribers and court reporters to process SBU data on government-owned computers to ensure full federal compliance.  However, this results in longer processing times, increased expenses, and a lack of transcribers and court reporters willing to work in an environment other than their own.  Ultimately, and unfortunately, this forces many government agencies to select convenience over compliance by simply allowing transcribers and court reporters to process SBU materials on home computers and over the open internet. 

The founder of LegaLock clearly understands this dilemma.  As a former federal security official tasked with ensuring information assurance and compliance, he spent more than a year searching the country for just one transcription or deposition service company that could process his own agency’s sensitive investigative data.  In the end, his extensive search produced no results. 

It is based on this discovery and the obvious demand for a compliant transcription solution that LegaLock developed STARS and built its business model:

To create and provide the nation’s only commercial transcription service company authorized to process, store, and transmit SBU government data in full compliance with the Federal Information Systems Management Act (FISMA), the DOD Information Assurance Certification (DIACAP), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800 Series standards, and “the remote data encryption mandate” of OMB 06-16.
